WHAT'S NOT IN YOUR SNACK?
Because knowing what you eat should be simple.
At Dilmure, we believe snacks can be crunchy, flavourful and fun without unnecessary extras.
So, here's a closer look at what you won't find in a Dilmure pack — and why we've chosen to leave it out.
WHAT WE LEAVE OUT
Seven things you won't find anywhere near a Dilmure pack.
NO PALM OIL
What is it?
Palm oil is a vegetable oil widely used in packaged foods because it is stable and economical.
Why do people avoid it?
Palm oil is relatively high in saturated fat. High intake of saturated fat can raise LDL ("bad") cholesterol, which is associated with cardiovascular risk.
What does it do?
Eating too much saturated fat over time can contribute to higher LDL cholesterol levels.
NO GLUTEN
What is it?
Gluten is a group of proteins naturally found in wheat, barley and rye.
Why do people avoid it?
For people with celiac disease or certain gluten sensitivities, consuming gluten can cause health problems. For most people, however, gluten itself is not harmful.
What does it do?
In people with celiac disease, gluten triggers an immune response that can damage the small intestine.
NO ADDED MSG
What is it?
MSG, or monosodium glutamate, is a flavour enhancer that gives foods a savoury, umami taste.
Is MSG bad for you?
MSG is considered safe by food-safety authorities when consumed as part of a normal diet. Some people may report sensitivity to large amounts, but consistent harmful effects have not been established.
What does it do?
MSG enhances the savoury taste of food. It doesn't add significant nutritional value.
NO MALTODEXTRIN
What is it?
Maltodextrin is a processed carbohydrate made from starch. It is commonly used as a bulking agent, carrier or to improve texture.
Why do people avoid it?
Maltodextrin is rapidly broken down into glucose, so it can cause a quick rise in blood sugar.
What does it do?
Because it is quickly digested, it can raise blood glucose rapidly — something people managing blood sugar may especially want to watch.
NO ADDED PRESERVATIVES
What are they?
Preservatives are ingredients added to foods to help extend shelf life and maintain quality.
Are preservatives bad?
Not necessarily. Approved preservatives can be safe when used within permitted limits. We simply believe they aren't necessary in our formulation.
What do they do?
They help slow spoilage and maintain food quality over time.
CHOLESTEROL FREE*
What is cholesterol?
Cholesterol is a waxy substance naturally found in the body and in foods from animal sources.
Why do people watch cholesterol?
High levels of blood cholesterol, particularly LDL cholesterol, can increase the risk of heart disease.
What does it do?
Dietary cholesterol is mainly found in animal-derived foods. Your body also makes its own cholesterol, which it needs for important functions.
0 TRANS FAT*
What is it?
Trans fat is a type of fat that can occur naturally in small amounts but is also produced industrially through processes such as partial hydrogenation.
Why is it a concern?
Industrial trans fat has no known health benefit and increases the risk of cardiovascular disease.
What does it do?
It can raise LDL ("bad") cholesterol and lower HDL ("good") cholesterol, increasing the risk of heart disease.
